Helga, Russia- Level 3

Can you imagine your life without books? I can’t.

Russia is proud of its classic writers – Chekhov, Dostoevsky, Pushkin, Lermontov and Tolstoy, of course! You live so many lives while reading their books.

I’d like to continue talking about one of them: “War and Peace” by L.N.Tolstoy. The first time we come across this book is at school. We read about Natasha Rostova’s first love, her first ball and in general the life of young people.

If you reread this book, you will feel new emotions. You will notice new themes such as the relationship between parents and children, and Russian heroism during the war with France when Napoleon’s army was destroyed.

A while ago ВВС showed a short TV series called “War and Peace”. I think the episodes don’t do justice to the book. They don’t show all emotions hidden in this book. “There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness and truth…”. How do you show that on TV?
