Mahan, Iran – Level 2

I am from Iran. Today is the birthday of Cyrus, a Persian prince who first wrote about human rights. He ruled between 559-539 BC. His epigraph is now hold in the British museum.

Cyrus is the founder of the Achaemenid empire. He established a big and powerful government for which we read in the annals. Those were the days! The glorious list of Iranian kings goes on, but now we have a dictator for a leader. He kills people because they claim their rights. A country with more than 2500 years of great civilization is being held back due to the wrong decisions of its politicians.

There are such differences between the Cyrus’ empire and today’s government! I have heard that history repeats itself. Is it possible to have a bright government in Iran again? I hope so.
